Reaa Puri

Reaa Puri is an award-winning filmmaker, TEDx speaker, and co-founder of Breaktide Productions, a women-of-color-owned production company. Her work explores sexual violence, transnational identity, and belonging. Reaa has received recognition from Cannes Lions, SXSW Film Festival, Vogue Magazine, and her work has screened at international film festivals in New York, China, and London. Reaa is a recipient of the Roselyn Schneider Eisner Prize for excellence in film, and was selected as a Sundance New Voices Lab semi-finalist.

Previously, Reaa was the Director of Photography and Editor for Nike’s 2019 Black History Month campaign, show-runner of a Vh1 TV show, and assistant director on feature film Mary Kom. She has formerly led video teams at Wear Your Voice MagazineCarbonated.TV, and Best San Francisco—a subdivision of Hearst Digital Media.

Reaa earned her bachelor’s degree in film and media studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and grew up between California, India, and Kuwait, which influenced her decision to intersect media with social justice.
